Instead of memorising a ton of words and forgetting them the next day, using modern day tools like Anki (a Spaced Repetition System), learners of languages are finding they can memorise dozens of new words a day.
In my own case I used Anki to recall how to write 2,200 kanji characters in just four months, as well as thousands of words. Not because I'm clever in any way, but just because with a structured and effective method, anything is possible.
