This video gives a step by step instruction on creating an SD card for the Pinephone with the differenr variants of PostmarketOS. You are able to use PlasmaMobile, Phosh and factory test versions of Pmos.
This instructional video uses pmbootstrap which will give the latest (daily) version of PostmarketOS and corresponding apps. This is the recommended way of long term use of PostmarketOS since the demo version does not have a large enough partition. This method uses the available space on the SD card.
This tutorial assumes pip3 is installed. To install pip3 on debian based distros:
sudo apt-get install python3-pip

Installation notes: The video references /dev/mmcblk0 as the SD card. But check your computer. If you have multiple block storage devices (SD card, USB drive), then it could be /dev/mmcblk(?).
In the future to update the OS, just do it from that command line as follows:
sudo apk upgrade
