Ivermectin is an anti-parasite drug that is used to treat a roundworm infection called threadworm. It is also sometimes used to treat head lice, scabies and other parasite infections. We’ve received inquiries from the United States, Mexico, and the UK about taking Ivermectin, in some form or another, as a precautionary measure against Covid-19. Self-medication using the drug appears to be running rampant in certain areas of the world.
An October 2020 report from The Economist found that people in Peru were using veterinarian-grade ivermectin to self-treat the virus. These drugs for pets have a different formulation than the tablets used to treat parasites in humans. Ivermectin for human use has been used safely for many years at approved doses to treat parasites, however, proper dosing and use to treat Covid has not been established. This is obviously problematic.
You should never order Ivermectin -- or any medication for that matter -- online from a website that does not require a valid prescription from your clinician.
