Perhaps the most successful of all English lutenist-composers, Daniel Bacheler´s repertory remains seldomly played in our day of age. Here´s Bacheler´s variations on a simple harmonic theme, very popular in his day of age. The writing seems to be an absolute idiomatic one for the Renaissance lute, using all of the fretboard and working with different Klangfarbenmelodien for extra expression and maximum tonal possibilities of the lute. Recorded live in Arboga, 3rd of April 2024, on an 8 course lute made by Lars Jönsson.
