The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren might have seemed a little out of left field back in the day but now, this early supercar lives with legit unicorn status. Watch as HotCars contributor Michael Van Runkle gets up close and personal with a low-mileage example to see how all that supercharged V8 torque and early traction control combine in such a low-slung, eye-popping coupe.
Keep in mind, the SLR arrived about a decade before McLaren jumped back into the supercar game with the MP4-12C, and put out an unbelievable 617 horsepower and 575 lb-ft of torque in the early-2000s. This exact car now shows right around 3,450 miles on the clock and looks perfect in Crystal Laurite Silver that harkens back to the iconic 300 SL "Gullwing" and the Silver Arrow racecars of the 1950s.
Special thanks to Tactical Fleet of Beverly Hills for loaning out this legend for a fun day in the hills.
