In this video we ascend to 9,000' to see plants occupying the rocky volcanic talus of a dormant volcano at tree line. The landscape consists of some of the "newest" rock in California, having last erupted in 1917.
We will see an endemic paintbrush, #Castilleja lassenensis, as well as an aquatic and weird-ass #Ranunculus, along with the coolest #Chaenactis to grow above 9,000'.
