Potential electric vehicle drivers may wonder if EVs are actually better for the environment. We take a cradle-to-grave approach to calculate Polestar cars’ total carbon footprint. This study explores the full-life carbon footprint of our electric cars, from production, to shipping, to purchase and daily use, and to the car’s eventual end-of-life processes. This report shows the true difference between EVs and ICE vehicles in terms of their environmental impact. EVs may require more energy to manufacture, but will use substantially less throughout their entire life cycle, especially if they are charged with green energy. This allows drivers to contribute to reducing their car’s overall carbon footprint, helping to ensure they make the more sustainable choice.
