The pandemic fundamentally changed our world, and in this time so many of us came together digitally through multiplayer games, which need to be tested! One of the biggest parts of their playtesting is getting people into a room together, which as we know, was a bit difficult over the last few years. This talk explains how multiplayer mobile testing changed. All from my time running playtests with hundreds of players from my cozy apartment in Berlin. Including a range of stories from the endeavors and ingenuity of our team to the player who wanted to do a moderated session in their car! Working with studios to change tack from running smaller studies to larger ones, testing games “out in the wild” earlier and doing it all while we were asleep was a challenge that everyone wanted to tackle head on. We will lift the lid on techniques that worked, ones that failed and maybe even a few backup ones we have not gotten to try just yet.
