#iaido #budo #martialarts My First Iaido Grading - Considering the Chakuganten In this video I take you on a trip with me to Newcastle Upon Tyne where the most recent Northern Iaido and Jodo Seminar took place. I also reflect on my performance in my ikkyu gtarding shinsa. The focus of the seminar was the chakuganten or key grading observation points for seitei for one through twelve. It was a fantastic weekend where I got to meet some pretty special people in the Iaido Bu including Jock Hopson Sensei Kyoshi Nanandan as well as Andy Watson Sensei Kyoshi Nanadan who many may already know contributes massively with his online prescense to the art of Iaido as he does in person. It was fantastic to get first hand instruction from him and the other Sensei who were all top knotch. However watching Andy's Iai in particular blew my socks off as a beginner. A real treat to see the odd thing he was passing onto the yondan group. Above my pay grade to be sure but oh so inspiring. Also a fantastic opportunity to meet a few more of the high level instructors at our sister Dojo Ojika Newcaslte . We are very fortunate to have quite high level instructors who are 5th Dan and 6th Dan sort of levels and they really look after us quite well. I feel quite spoilt in that sense, but I am grateful it must be said.
