As part of our ongoing partnership with creative collaboration Extra Soul Perception, Analogue Foundation presents a series of short films introducing the artists on the project.
Faizal Mostrixx is one of Kampala’s most recognised contemporary dancers and a producer giving traditional Ugandan sounds an electronic instrumentalism to preserve its heritage. He featured in 15 East African Artists You Need to Hear by RA and provided the music to the Adidas Originals campaign ‘Freedom’.
Extra Soul Perception brings together innovative artists to explore new tangents in soul music, supported by British Council’s new Art new Audiences programme, the Analogue Foundation and Arts Council England. In November 2019, Vol. 1 took place in Nairobi with a week-long writing camp featuring artists from the UK, Kenya and Uganda, followed by a UK tour in February 2020 and a series of vinyl releases throughout the year.
New Tangents Vol. 1 EP is out 3rd July featuring Hibotep (Ug), Faizal Mostrixx (Ug), K15 (UK), Karun (Ke), Labdi (Ke), Lex Amor (UK), Lynda Dawn (UK) and Maxwell Owin (UK).
