CoS RED Configuration | Juniper
RED (Random Early Detection) and WRED (Weighted RED) help prevent congestion by proactively dropping some packets, causing the sender to slow down. These are configured in Junos using drop profiles.
The drop profile contains a series of thresholds, and the drop probability at each threshold. That is, as the queue fills up, the probability of any given packet being dropped increases.
There are two ways we can configure this. Using segmented or interpolated drop profiles.
Drop profiles are attached to a scheduler. Be careful of the type of traffic that you might drop. Some traffic doesnโt respond well to this.
