In a year where people have found increasing solace in, and drawn creative inspiration from the natural world, we invite you to participate in and enjoy ‘Drawn to Nature; Nautilus’. Join Museum Collection Manager, Mark Carnall, to hear about the natural history and conservation status of some of the world’s most enigmatic ocean dwellers, the nautiloids, before taking a chance to draw your own using the Museum’s specimens as inspiration with Q+A’s in this online, interactive science and art workshop. Make sure to have your art materials to hand!
Mark Carnall is the Collections Manager (Life Collections) with responsibilities for the vertebrate and invertebrate (non entomological collections) material. In addition to managing collections he lectures on biology, palaeobiology and museological topics. His research interests are digitisation in museums, public engagement and natural history, sector wide advocacy for collections, models, casts and replicas as well as the implications on 3D printing on museum collections. In addition to collections management, Mark contributes to public engagement from stand up about natural history museums through to lectures, informal talks and workshops to all age groups.
