Furries are people who are interested in - and often dress up as - cartoon animals. We went to Melbourne Furry Convention to ask people why they’re in the furry community, and what their mum thinks about it. People will often spend thousands of dollars on fursuits and identify with a personalised animal character, known as their “fursona”. It’s a growing subculture of thousands in Australia that’s still heavily stigmatised – but fans say they’re just misunderstood.
