When Somer Love was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at 11 months old in 1980, the outlook was bleak. Doctors at the time told her parents, “Just take her home, and love her. She probably won’t make it to be 10.” But they wouldn’t go down without a fight. With the help of other parents, they founded the Foundation's Utah Idaho chapter, and 20 years ago, started the Taste of Utah gala, which has raised more than $3.5 million to date.
Today, Somer is 40, the founder of Love to Breathe, and an inspiration in the CF community. As we celebrate 65 years of progress, she reflects on how things have changed in her lifetime, and her hope for children diagnosed with CF today.
