The Nordics are global champions when it comes to gender equality and equal rights, but there are things that remain to be done: sexual harassment, gender-based violence, honour culture, segregated labour market, gaps in income and health, youth not participating the decision-making process and more.
Some of these topics were the focus of the third session in a series of Agenda 2030 webinars running from December through February. During the online event, we have had the opportunity to meet and discuss with representatives from three municipalities that are frontrunners when it comes to integrating gender and youth perspectives in their work - to achieve equality, youth inclusions and reach the SDG targets. We have talked to Lisbeth Iversen, project leader for Med hjerte för Arendal; Linda Gustafsson, Gender equality officer in Umeå; and Anna Elísabet Ólafsdóttir & Sigrún María Kristinsdóttir from Kópavogur. We have also had the pleasure to discuss with Jenny Pentler from NIKK, who shared learnings from Nordic collaboration on gender and inclusion, and presented the "Nordic Gender Fund". And finally, we discussed with Ann-Sofi Backgren from Österbotten, FI about regional support to local work on gender.
