I've been living in Egypt and learning Egyptian Arabic for about 6 months now, so I wanted to make a short video to document my progress.
In this video, which was partly prepared, I talk about how many Arabic learners consider it to be an extremely difficult language to learn.
In my experience, although undoubtedly challenging, Arabic is not particularly difficult when compared to other languages. My last two languages were Japanese and Cantonese, both of which were equally challenging.
The one genuinely difficult area of Arabic, though, is grammar. Learning Arabic grammar is a huge task, and one that takes many years to perfect, proving too much even for native speakers.
However, I don't let this problem hold me back, because speaking is my main priority, and I'm able to communicate perfectly well even with occasionally inaccurate grammar.
