Digitalisation holds considerable potential for rural areas and is often mentioned as one strategy to increase access to health care practitioners. However, there are also significant challenges, with rural areas lagging behind their urban counterparts when it comes to digital infrastructure and the development of necessary knowledge and skills. And this was the topic of the second webinar in the Agenda 2030 series.
On 9 December, a line-up of experts and practitioners discussed the multifaceted issue of digitalization. Nordregio's Research Fellow Linda Randall introduced digitalisation state-of-art from a Nordic perspective. Terese Bengard, Director of Hela Sverige Ska Leva Association, presented the digital opportunities and challenges of digitalization in rural Sweden. Andreas Lundqvist, Head of Unit at Glesbygdsmediciniskt centrum in Storuman, talked about the health distance spanning solutions already in use in Sweden and what opportunities lie ahead. And finally, Kasper Dam Mikkelsen, Co-Founder and CTO of the Nabogo mobility app, offered a presentation about meeting mobility needs with a new online service solution in Denmark.
