In this video, we explore snapshots for LXD virtual machines. Using the "lxc" CLI tool, you can perform common snapshot management operations on Linux VMs, including:
➡️ Taking new LXD VM snapshots
➡️ Deleting LXD VM snapshots
➡️ Restore LXD VM snapshots to the same VM
➡️ Restore LXD VM snapshots to new VMs
➡️ Configure an LXD snapshot expiration period
➡️ Configure automated cron schedules for taking LXD VM snapshots
Although snapshots aren't a suitable mechanism for creating virtual machine backups, you can use them to quickly restore your VM rootfs to a previous point-in-time.
