In today's world, why are there so few women studying or working in technology field? Is it really because women are not suitable for scientific study or technological work? What exactly prevents women or girls from getting touch with technology? In this talk, Chinese education activist Ms.Xue tried to answer these questions with her experience in promoting science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education towards rural girls in China. Ms.Xiaona Xue used to be an IT manager before joining the international NGO, Plan International in China, as senior project manager. She led a couple of non-profit education programs, including STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education, which reached more than 60,000 girls and boys in rural China. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
