In this lecture Prof. Shmuel (Sam) Ben-Yaakov describes a novel DC-DC converters that is based on a new switched capacitors topology. The unique feature of this converter is that it has a binary resolution. That is, depending on the number of flying capacitors, the transfer ratio between input and output can be adjusted in small increments. This can help reduce the losses of the converter since the multiple and evenly spaced 'Target Voltages' can be adjusted to be close to the desired output voltage.
