Man baut NIEMALS Kapellen ohne Grund! Dies ist auch hier der Fall, denn die Ursprünge des gesamten Gebäudekomplexes gehen auf ein Ereignis aus dem 15. Jahrhundert zurück, als die Jungfrau Maria angeblich einer Hirtin auf einem Feld in Norditalien erschien. Daraufhin wurde allerdings nicht nur eine Kapelle errichtet, sondern auch gleichzeitig ein Priesterseminar. Beide erfüllten bis ins 19. Jahrhundert hinein ihren Zweck, doch irgendwann wurde das Seminar nicht mehr benötigt und aufgegeben. Der Komplex verfiel zusehends, die Kapelle brach zusammen, wurde aber in den 1930er Jahren im neogotischen Stil wieder aufgebaut. Und aus dem Priesterseminar wurde eine Schule mit Internat. Bis ins Jahr 1984 hinein fungierte das Gebäude als Schule, doch abnehmende Schülerzahlen führten leider zu ihrer Schließung. Hoffnung keimte auf als eine Polizeischule in die Räumlichkeiten einzog, doch auch dieses Gastspiel war nur von kurzer Dauer. 2010 wurde ein letzter Versuch gestartet die Gebäude zu retten: die Idee darin ein Altenheim zu betreiben scheiterte aber leider am Konkurs des Investors. Eine erfolglose Versteigerung brachte die Nachnutzung schließlich komplett zum Erliegen! Noch immer steht der Gebäudekomplex zum Verkauf, aber die Schäden, die ein großes Erdbeben im Jahr 2012 der Struktur des Bauwerks zugefügt hat, haben die Kosten für die Renovierung in fast unerschwingliche Höhen getrieben. Wir wollen uns mit eigenen Augen ein Bild von dem Zustand des Gebäudes machen – aber nicht nur das: unser Hauptziel ist eine spektakuläre Kapelle, die aufgrund ihrer besonderen Farbgebung im Altarraum in Urbexer-Kreisen als „Blue Chapel“ oder „Chiesa Blu“ bekannt ist – doch diesmal sollten wir nicht die einzigen Gäste bleiben … Chapels are NEVER built for no reason! This is also the case here, as the origins of the entire complex date back to a 15th-century event when the Virgin Mary appeared to be a shepherdess in a field in northern Italy. As a result, not only a chapel was built, but also a seminary. Both fulfilled their purpose until the 19th century, but at some point the seminar was no longer needed and therefore abandoned. The complex decayed noticeably, the chapel collapsed, but was rebuilt in the 1930s in the Neo-Gothic style. And the seminary became a school with a boarding school. The building functioned as a school until 1984, but decreasing numbers of pupils unfortunately led to its closure. Hope returned as a police school moved into the premises, but this “guest appearance” was only short lived. In 2010, one last attempt was made to save the buildings: however, the idea of running a retirement home failed due to the bankruptcy of the investor. An unsuccessful auction finally brought the reuse to a complete standstill! Today, the building complex is still for sale, but the damage caused to the structure by a major earthquake in 2012 has pushed the costs of the renovation to almost unaffordable heights.
