It is always important to have trust in the contractors hired for the project. If there are any doubts, it is up to the homeowner to be confident in the methods being employed in the shower installation. This includes the correct waterproofing methods and techniques. Unfortunately, some contractors take advantage of homeowners lack of knowledge and pull a "fast one" like skipping crucial waterproofing steps. In this instance, the contractor was given a Schluter System and did not use it. Instead, they just tiled right over the existing leaking shower. The homeowner was gone while the installer did the work, and had no idea that the Schluter System that was provided was not used.
In this video we deiscussed the Tile Redi system that the homeowner had previously used on another project. Tile Redi pans are already waterproof, pre- sloped, and there are no connections to be made between the shower floor and wall. Also, the drain is integrated into the pan instead of installed separately. This reduces the failure points that are common with the Schluter, Hydro Block, and Wedi shower systems. Tile Redi foam is also approximately 7 times more dense than Schluter foam.
