Keeping your project management team motivated and productive is an important part of being a team leader. What are some ways to tell if a team or a team member is struggling, or is feeling unmotivated?
One way to read your team is through their body language. Another way to see if your team is motivated and engaged is by tracking their progress. If you notice something in their body language that tells you something is not right, or you see their tasks are not moving along sufficiently, you can then act to rectify the situation.
If your team is always positive, but you notice a change in their tone, that might be an indication that something is not right. Knowing your team well can help you understand when they need help. They might feel like they’re failing. They might feel like they don’t have an advocate. Your job as a project manager is to make them feel comfortable opening up about the situation.
Being a good project manager is not just about getting the job done on time and on budget. You also need to support your team when they’re feeling unmotivated. Being an advocate and leader for your team can help move them past those times when they need some extra encouragement and motivation.
