When it comes to removing old finishes off furniture there are a few options... none are exactly fun! We are removing shellac from this old cedar chest today and we're going to be using denatured alcohol. This process will break down the shellac and make it possible to wipe it off- BUT easier said than done. In the end, while it definitely works well it requires a LOT of elbow grease!
