I have made a variety of documentaries on the history of aviation and with some spectacular pilots. I have made documentaries on military aviation, on World War II, on the history of the aircraft carrier, on Top Gun pilots, on the Luftwaffe – German pilots and more. Although I am not myself a pilot, I have come to understand the thrill of flying an airplane and why some pilots choose the military which is admittedly quite dangerous. But I have flown off an aircraft carrier deck myself as a cameraman and not the unbelievable feeling – the rush – of flying off a little piece of metal and in an instant, you are over the ocean and not very high up.
