Resident Evil Village is a survival horror game developed and published by Capcom. It is the tenth major installment in the Resident Evil series, and the sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. The game was announced at the PlayStation 5 reveal event in June 2020 and was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on May 7, 2021. Like Resident Evil 7, the game was developed on the RE Engine and will be played from a first-person perspective, with Ethan Winters returning as the protagonist. The inventory management system is similar to that of Resident Evil 4, featuring a briefcase. The game also features the return of "The Merchant", who now has a more obese and gigantic appearance and is referred to as "The Duke". He can sell the player various things such as weapons and healing items. The currency used in the game for buying said items is romanian "Lei". The game is set a few years after the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. During the reveal, Capcom said of the story, "Ethan's world suddenly comes crashing down once again when Chris Redfield, an unexpected yet familiar face makes an appearance, setting off a chain of events that sees a distraught Ethan seeking answers to Chris' shocking actions, and ultimately finding him in a mysterious village." Events will take place in Romania.
