I've used a YubiKey to secure my accounts for years now. After visiting their headquarters in Sweden, this is what I learned about how they are made: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Xucy...

Today is my birthday! Well, not really, but I've been getting a lot of birthday messages.

Feb 1 is the date I list as my fake birthday anytime a service or form asks for my birthday and they don't need to actually know it.

Jan 1 seemed too obvious...so I bumped it up a month 😎 Do you do something like this?

I hate that I'm spending my time on this, but I have to call out @YouTube on their blatant dishonesty. I woke up this morning to find that they had retroactively removed 90%+ of earned revenue from the month of November. The reason? It's the "Invalid Traffic" that they say comes from third parties, friends, or my audience (see their help page screenshot).

Here's where they're being dishonest:

In the month of November, over 66% of the views on All Things Secured came from YouTube itself: search, suggested and browse. These are metrics coming from YouTube itself saying that they drove traffic (not my subscribers) to the channel to watch videos.

How many views came from me or external sources? Less than 9%.

Regardless, I've seen an overall drop of ad revenue from YouTube of over 40% this past year, and over 90% in November alone.

I'm not concerned about the money - YT revenue thankfully accounts for less than 10% of what I make each month - but I DO care that YouTube continues to claim that they are creator-friendly. They are not.

At the end of the day, they care about advertisers and revenue above all else and when you see creators ask you to follow them elsewhere (i.e. Dude Perfect asking their audience to watch videos on their app instead of YouTube), please DO IT!
